Kohomba_kankariye_marawa_or_marapada

After performing the pre-traditional rites of the Kandyan tradition, the morning rituals of Kankari, the rituals of the afternoon and Yak Anuma, Asne, Yakthun Pada, etc., the last element to be performed is the Marawa or Marapada dance.

The killing is done with the gestures of a devil sitting on the front porch of the island. This takes the form of a handshake or a handshake that can be seen in many rituals. The same devil performs this ritual by looking at the ground and alternating between betel leaves.

It is clear that Mara is not a specific dance form in Kohomba Kankariya. A special feature of Mara is the Marapada dance after singing Mara's poems. It can be clearly shown in the following poem.

To say mara - to my teacher who is bound by verses

To those who are in the audience - to swear

After the poem is sung, the marapadaya is danced. This is clear from the following poem.q

Mara Hamara - Not with God

It's been a while - the work is over now

This is done after singing three times.

The Yakdessa standing here takes the pot of water in his hand and sprinkles the pot from the pot on the kankari shed and those present.
